Das Mariana Zwarg Quintet gehört zu den spannendsten Formationen der aktuellen Jazzszene. Gegründet 2022, verbindet die Band brasilianische Instrumentalmusik mit dem freien Geist des Jazz – kraftvoll, virtuos und voller Spielfreude.
Angeführt von der Flötistin und Komponistin Mariana Zwarg, entfaltet das Ensemble einen ganz eigenen Sound, verwurzelt in Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro und Música Popular Brasileira – stets mit improvisatorischer Leichtigkeit und einem klar zeitgenössischen Anspruch. Mariana ist die Patentochter des legendären Komponisten Hermeto Pascoal und führt dessen musikalisches Erbe als Teil der dritten Generation der „Música Universal“ mit eigener Handschrift weiter. Die Stücke von Mariana Zwarg laden ein zu einer klanglichen Entdeckungsreise, bei der komplexe Rhythmen, melodische Feinheiten und spontane Improvisationen auf faszinierende Weise miteinander verschmelzen. The Mariana Zwarg Quintet is one of the most exciting groups on the current jazz scene. Founded in 2022, the band combines Brazilian instrumental music with the free spirit of jazz – powerful, virtuosic and full of joy. Led by flutist and composer Mariana Zwarg, the ensemble develops its own unique sound, rooted in samba, bossa nova, choro and Música Popular Brasileira – always with improvisational ease and a clearly contemporary approach. Mariana is the goddaughter of legendary composer Hermeto Pascoal and continues his musical legacy as part of the third generation of ‘Música Universal’ with her own signature style. Mariana Zwarg's pieces invite listeners on a sonic journey of discovery, in which complex rhythms, melodic subtleties and spontaneous improvisations merge in a fascinating way.
