Līva Strazdiņa bringt mit Trompete und Flügelhorn eine ganz besondere Klangfarbe auf die Bühne: tief im Jazz verwurzelt, voller Ausdruck und mit einem Hauch lettischer Seele. Simona Turk schöpft aus der großen Jazztradition und bringt mit ihrem reichen musikalischen Vokabular einen kraftvollen, vielseitigen Sound voller Ausdruck und Überraschungen auf die Bühne. Ein weiterer Höhepunkt des Abends sind die Uraufführungen von Hendrik Nehls: neue Kompositionen ganz im Geist des Jazz-Swing-Idioms. Mit viel Humor und musikalischer Fantasie erzählen diese Stücke von so unterschiedlichen Themen wie portugiesischen Küchlein und ZDF-Vorabendserien – swingend, überraschend und garantiert mit einem Augenzwinkern.

Simona Turk draws on the great jazz tradition and, with her rich musical vocabulary, brings a powerful, versatile sound full of expression and surprises to the stage. Another highlight of the evening are the world premieres of works by Hendrik Nehls: new compositions entirely in the spirit of the jazz-swing idiom. With plenty of humour and musical imagination, these pieces explore themes as diverse as Portuguese pastries and ZDF early-evening TV series – swinging, surprising and, without a doubt, with a twinkle in the eye.
