BalkaNova interpretiert Volkslieder auf besondere Art: Dicht am Text entwickelte Arrangements spiegeln durch feinsinnige, jazzige Harmonien, rasante Rhythmen, und die für den Balkan typische Metrik in jedem Moment die Bedeutung der Worte wider. Auf einzigartige Weise sind Text, Melodie und Begleitung der ursprünglichen Lieder des Balkans neu miteinander verwoben.
The international ensemble BalkaNova, featuring the fantastic Bulgarian singer Viktoria Lasaroff, blends Balkan folk and world jazz in an innovative style. BalkaNova interprets folk songs in a special way: arrangements closely based on the lyrics reflect the meaning of the words at every moment through subtle, jazzy harmonies, rapid rhythms and the meter typical of the Balkans. The lyrics, melody and accompaniment of the original Balkan songs are woven together in a unique way.
