Das Koto KOKO Trio feiert seine Premiere mit neuen Kompositionen, die Klangwelten aus Neuer Musik, traditioneller japanischer Musik, Jazz und freier Improvisation verbinden. Die drei Musiker*innen treffen hier aufeinander, nachdem sie sich im Trickster Orchestra kennenlernten. Saito und Kikuchi traten 2024 erstmals als Duo beim Moers Festival auf nun entsteht daraus ein facettenreiches Trio.Alle drei Künstler*innen sind vielfach ausgezeichnet: Kikuchi spielte u. a. mit den Berliner und Wiener Philharmonikern, Saito erhielt 2023 den Jazzpreis Berlin und 2024 den Deutschen Jazzpreis, Meinhold ist für seine genreübergreifenden Kompositionen international bekannt.Ein einzigartiges Konzerterlebnis voller Klangfarben, Intensität und Poesie. The Koto KOKO Trio celebrates its premiere with new compositions that combine soundscapes from new music, traditional Japanese music, jazz and free improvisation. The three musicians meet here after getting to know each other in the Trickster Orchestra. Saito and Kikuchi performed as a duo for the first time at the Moers Festival in 2024, and now they have formed a
multifaceted trio. All three artists have received numerous awards: Kikuchi has played with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras, among others, Saito received the Berlin Jazz Prize in 2023 and the German Jazz Prize in 2024, and Meinhold is internationally renowned for his cross-genre compositions. A unique concert experience full of timbres, intensity and poetry.
