Rondo Projects hat seinen Namen von einer Reihe gemeinsamer Musikprojekte, die von Ehsan Sadigh, einem versierten Komponisten und Gitarristen, und Mazyar Younesi, einem vielseitigen Komponisten und Pianisten, ins Leben gerufen wurden. Zusammen mit der facettenreichen Perkussionistin Roshanak Rafani begannen sie ihre musikalische Reise im Oktober 2023 im Rahmen der Mosaic Events in Berlin – einer Plattform für experimentellen Jazz. Im Mittelpunkt von Rondo Projects steht eine Kultur der kontinuierlichen Weiterentwicklung. Bei jeder Ausgabe arbeitet das Trio mit verschiedenen Musikern und Instrumentalisten zusammen und erweitert so ständig die Grenzen seines Klangs. Bei ihrem ersten Auftritt wurden sie von der Bratschistin Niki Yaghmaee und der Cellistin Golsana Shenasaei begleitet, deren Beiträge dem Ensemble eine komplexe Klangtextur und Tiefe verliehen. Bei der zweiten Show, die im Dezember 2023 in Teheran stattfand, erweiterte die Gruppe ihre Klanglandschaft durch die Zusammenarbeit mit vier weiteren Musikern, darunter dem Bassisten Toofan Nasehi, dessen unverwechselbarer Sound ihre Performance zusätzlich bereicherte. Das dritte Projekt, Teil der zweiten Ausgabe des Houbara Resonanzen Iran Festivals im April 2024 im Stadtgarten Köln, stellte den Cetera-Spieler Esmail Pirhadi vor, dessen frische und unerwartete Elemente der Musik der Gruppe eine neue Dimension verliehen. Im Anschluss daran vereinte das vierte Projekt von Rondo Projects die ursprünglichen Mitwirkenden Niki Yaghmaee und Golsana Shenasaei sowie den Klarinettisten Ruben Staub. Rondo Projects takes its name from a testament to a series of collaborative musical endeavors initiated by Ehsan Sadigh, an accomplished composer and guitarist, and Mazyar Younesi, a versatile composer and pianist. Together with the multifaceted percussionist Roshanak Rafani, they embarked on their musical journey in October 2023 as part of the Mosaic Events in Berlin—a platform dedicated to experimental jazz. At the heart of Rondo Projects is a culture of continuous evolution. With each edition, the trio collaborates with diverse musicians and instrumentalists, constantly pushing the boundaries of their sound. Their inaugural performance featured viola player Niki Yaghmaee and cellist Golsana Shenasaei, whose contributions added intricate layers of texture and depth to the ensemble’s work. In the second show, held in Tehran in December 2023, the group expanded its sonic landscape by collaborating with four additional musicians, including bass player Toofan Nasehi, whose distinctive sound further enriched their performance. The third project, part of the second edition of the Houbara Resonanzen Iran Festival in April 2024 at Stadtgarten Cologne, introduced Cetera player Esmail Pirhadi, whose fresh and unexpected elements added a new dimension to the group’s music. Following this, Rondo Projects' fourth endeavor reunited the original collaborators, Niki Yaghmaee and Golsana Shenasaei, alongside clarinetist Ruben Staub. This dynamic ensemble performed two acclaimed concerts at Berlin’s iconic venues—Galiläakirche and Panda Platforma in Kulturbrauerei—in May 2024, as part of the Incense of Music series. The music of Rondo Projects reflects the lived musical experiences of its members. Rooted in diverse musical backgrounds, the group seamlessly blends styles like minimalism, avant-garde, and contemporary jazz. Improvisation plays a key role, both in the compositional process and live performances, allowing musicians to stretch their creativity and explore new sonic dimensions. Each member brings exceptional skill and passion, resulting in a harmonious fusion of talent and innovation.
