Modern Weltmusik, Nordic Jazz
Doors open: 20:00 – Concert: 21:00
Karl Seglem (ts, goat horns, voice), Erlend Viken (fiddles), Hallvard Gaardlös (e-b), Kåre Opheim (dr), Ingar Hunskaar (sound)
Norway's foremost goat horn player and tenor saxophonist has an impressive drive to constantly explore the relationship between folk music and jazz - and everything around, everything outside. It is difficult to put a label on Karl Seglem. He has created his own sound universe, his own genre so to speak. And music is for him a vital and personal form of expression. Let's call it world heritage jazz, since much of the inspiration for the creation process comes from Norwegian folk music, mountains, fjords. The quartet presents music from a long series of his album releases where critically acclaimed Mytevegar, Ossicles, Nordic Balm are central. A soundscape where both mountain home, sand dunes, asphalt jungle, undulating forest and life-giving water can be heard. Overwhelmingly extroverted, beautifully energetic, poetic, - and Norwegian. New CD October 18. 2024. PATH.HOPE.MYTH.
