Mit „Berlin Odd Wisdom" hat der uruguayische Schlagzeuger eine ganz besondere Auswahl an Berliner Musikern um sich versammelt. Die Formation besteht seit 2019 und hat seitdem einen ganz eigenen Sound entwickelt. Die für diese Formation speziell komponierten Stücke erzeugen eine moderne Synthese aus europäischer und lateinamerikanischer Ästhetik. Das rhythmische Konzept der Kompositionen Piñeras beruht auf dem Clave-Prinzip und wird in virtuoser Weise von Piñera in die Welt der ungeraden Taktarten überführt. Dazu gesellt sich das harmonische Verständnis des Jazz samt seinem großen Raum für Improvisation, welcher es jedem Musiker ermöglicht, seine Persönlichkeit und seinen Sound als wichtige Zutat der Formation hinzuzufügen.
In September 2025, the renowned Berlin-based Magnetic Ghost Orchestra will release its third album, entitled “Holding On To Wonder”. The album will be released on the Berlin-based specialist label “Fun In The Church”, just like the band’s previous LP, “Magnetic Ghost Orchestra”, which was nominated for the German Jazz Prize in the category “Best Vocal Album of the Year”. The compositions are by Moritz Sembritzki, who, with his exuberant and surprising personal style, adds yet another work to the Magnetic Ghost Orchestra’s repertoire. Over the last 15 years, the collaboration between the composer and the orchestra has developed into a powerful voice on the German large-ensemble scene.
