Das Quartett von Arcadius Didavi ist die klarste Form seiner kompositorischen Sprache. Die Musik überträgt afrikanische Polyrhythmik in die Architektur des Ensembles selbst: Jeder Musiker kann den Puls anders akzentuieren, und die entstehenden Kreuzbewegungen verweben sich mit Jazzharmonik, melodischem Erzählen und raumsensibler Improvisation. Neben E-Bass und Gesang bringt Didavi Instrumente wie Tanikka und Doppelkalimba in das Set ein. Ihre Klangfarbe verändert den Sound der Band sofort und gibt dem Quartett eine Identität, die warm, handgemacht und weit entfernt von beliebiger Fusion ist. So entsteht ein Live-Erlebnis, das von tiefem Groove und lyrischen Songs bis zu offenen instrumentalen Passagen reicht, ohne den inneren Zusammenhang zu verlieren. Das Quartett funktioniert gleichermaßen in Jazzclubs, auf Festivals und in kuratierten Listening-Room-Kontexten.

Arcadius Didavi’s quartet is the purest expression of his compositional language. The music translates African polyrhythms into the very architecture of the ensemble itself: each musician can accentuate the pulse differently, and the resulting interplay weaves together with jazz harmonies, melodic storytelling, and spatially sensitive improvisation. In addition to electric bass and vocals, Didavi incorporates instruments such as the tanikka and double kalimba into the set. Their timbre instantly transforms the band’s sound and gives the quartet an identity that is warm, handmade, and far removed from arbitrary fusion. The result is a live experience that ranges from deep grooves and lyrical songs to open instrumental passages, without ever losing its inner cohesion. The quartet performs equally well in jazz clubs, at festivals, and in curated listening room settings.
