The Danish-born singer explores contemporary jazz as well as the tradition with her band consisting of some of the finest musicians on the New York scene.
Tine Bruhn moved to New York City in 2001 after having graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. In NYC she performs at some of the city’s best music venues including Kitano, Smalls and Bar Next Door. She consistently plays with top musicians and has become a regular on the program at the well-known jazz club Zinc Bar. Her latest release "Nearness" (2013), a duo recording of standards with pianist Johnny O'Neal (Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, Milt Jackson), has received stellar reviews along both national and international airplay.
Ms Bruhn grew up in Flensburg, Germany where she started her career at an early age.
In high school she started the vocal group "Kvart I Fire", recorded her first CD with the group and sang in two semi-professional classical choirs. Around that time she discovered her passion for jazz and went to many of the live jazz concerts by visiting Danish musicians such as NHØP and Danish Radio Big Band. After performing with a jazz trio she decided to make the big move to the United States. In Boston she studied with Sheryl Bentyne (Manhattan Transfer), recording artist Walter Beasley, Grammy award winner Richard Evans and distinguished scat educator Bob Stoloff.

Their adebut "Afro-fire" was released in 2014 at Tramp Records and celebrated with multiple awards. The experts were of one mind: This is what it wouldhave sounded, had Fela Kuti, Charles Mingus and Ornette coleman had ever founded a band in Copenhagen. inspired by these exceptional artists, the KutiMangoes keep their very own take on Afrobeat, Electric Jazz, Soul and Blues. If they don't claim west african authenticity themselves, their parteners in crime come from Burkina Faso and Mali. With their three head brass section, a Fender Rhodes, drums and percussion, the Danes are one of the hottest things in Afro jazz at the moment. Apart from sold out tours through West Africa, Asia and of course Denmark, they had their first tour through Germanies North early 2015. After that they enchanted their audience at the Reeperbahnfestival and the Jazzahead - again.
